Keeping You
Informed
CFMC news is important because it serves as a vital communication tool to keep our church members informed about upcoming events, community initiatives, important updates, and overall happenings within the congregation, fostering a sense of connection, participation, and belonging within the church community while also allowing you to stay engaged with your faith and the wider church mission; it also provides an opportunity for us to highlight positive stories, celebrate achievements, and welcome new members.
Youth Christmas Worship Service
A Youth led Christmas Service is scheduled for December 22. This service will share the story of Jesus' birth through
songs and scripture readings. We will end the service with a Moravian Lovefeast. We are excited to
have our youth provide worship for us.
A lovefeast in the Moravian church today involves the communal sharing of food and drink during a worship service, accompanied by hymn singing. Typically, the meal includes sweet bread, coffee, or milk. For this occasion, we will be offering simple sugar cookies along with juice or coffee. This gathering serves as an expression of fellowship during worship, symbolizing the unity established by Christ as we come together to share a simple meal.
We are in need of servers for the lovefest. A sign up will be available in the narthex and on our website.

Moravian Watchwords
Every year on the first Sunday of the New Year, we invite you to draw a Watchword to guide you for the coming year. The watchword is either a promise, an encouragement, an admonition or word of comfort from scriptures. The watchwords are pulled from the Moravian Daily Text. There is a scripture as well as a MBW hymn stanza. The stanza is our human response to God’s word in the Bible.
The Moravian tradition of drawing a watchword began in Herrnhut, Saxony. In 1722, the refugees from Bohemia and Moravia began arriving at the estate of Count Nicholas Zinzendorf, where the Count gave them land to establish the settlement of Herrnhut. They would come together for morning and evening devotions. Count Zinzendorf gave the congregation a Losungen (German for watchword), a daily message from God to accompany them through the entire next day. In 1731, the oral tradition of watchwords were printed into what is now known as the Moravian Daily Text.
